Underground Development Program Completed and Underground Diamond Drilling Continues with Two Rigs
September 24, 2008 - Selkirk Metals Corp. ("Selkirk" or
the "Company") is pleased to provide this update of operations on the
Ruddock Creek Property, located 100 km north-northwest of Revelstoke in
the Kamloops and Revelstoke Mining Divisions, British Columbia.
The underground development portion of the 2008 exploration program has
now been completed and the contractor is now demobilizing the majority
of equipment and personnel. The decline, which reached a length of 982
meters, successfully intersected the target E-Zone as predicted by the
geological modeling based on surface diamond drilling. The 900E
crosscut has been completed to a length of 170 meters including the
establishment of four diamond drill stations. "We are very pleased to
have completed the development portion of the proposed underground
exploration program on Ruddock Creek. The results to date confirm the
model developed by the geological and engineering team that worked to
plan and expedite this extensive and aggressive program. I would
personally like to express my appreciation for the members of our staff
and contractors who have overseen the programs at Ruddock Creek since
we first became involved in 2004," stated Gordon Keevil, President.
While the underground development has been completed, the diamond
drilling will continue with two drills. This initial program is planned
for 10,000 meters of drilling focusing on the deep extension of the
E-Zone. The decline intersected the Zone at the most westerly extent
defined by surface drilling over 1 kilometer down plunge from where the
Zone outcrops. It is the deeper 500 meters of the Zone that is the
target of the current drilling program, the upper portion delineation
drilling having been completed from surface. Once the drilling has been
completed and the results are available a measured, indicated and
inferred resource will be calculated as part of the planned engineering
study on the future development of the E-Zone. In support of this
study, two years of environmental baseline studies have been completed
and are ongoing. In addition, the Company's technical team has
completed the required Project Description including mining and milling
plans, which will be submitted to initiate the Provincial/Federal
Government Permit Application process.
To date 16 underground drill holes have been completed totaling 3147
meters. All the drill holes to date have intersected the target massive
sulphide mineralization that characterizes not only the E-Zone but the
entire "Ruddock Creek Massive Sulphide Horizon". Assay results from the
drilling and underground program will be released as they are
completed. Operations on the Ruddock Creek Property are being conducted
under the supervision of the Company's Qualified Person (as defined by
NI 43-101), Jim Miller-Tait, P.Geo., Vice President of Exploration.
